  • LCC 3843: Digital Humanities

This course begins with the basic premise that theoretical concepts can be engaged through method. To this end, we will explore the theories that underlie digital humanities scholarship—in particular, as they relate to literary studies—through the practice of three major sets of methods associated with this emerging field. • Digital Humanities March 28, 2012
It’s been couple months since the first time I ever heard the term of Digital Humanities. I still remember the first time our professor asked us what Digital Humanities was on the very first day of class, my mind was just completely blank and all I knew was that I sign up this class because […]
    • Untitled March 28, 2012
There were a couple things I did today that I think would be considered in the realm of digital humanities. Morning In class we analyzed the story of Mrs. Dalloway in terms of locations visited. We accomplished this through google maps and google earth. This morning, I had to get directions from Google Maps to an […]
    • The Art of Games March 28, 2012
When I signed up for the Day of Digital Humanities, I went into it as an opportunity to reflect upon the ideas of the field and broaden my understanding of the entire subject. This event is a very interesting way to gather such knowledge; people talk about their days and relate the things they are […]
    • Film as text visualization March 27, 2012
I just got out of my Shakespeare and Film class. Dramatic beginning to a post, I know. Since I’m not strictly involved in the field of Digital Humanities, I figured I might talk about the class and how it may be related to DH. My Shakespeare and Film class has focused on film adaptations of […]
    • DH outside of class March 27, 2012
I am also working on a senior thesis this semester, and my method has been somewhat DH-like in preparing for my final paper. My topic is slam poetry, with a specific focus on female slam poets and (their) voices. Because slam poetry is performance-based, it only made sense to have a digital form of record […]
    • Visualization: Sherlock Holmes March 27, 2012
The tool we used most for visualization was Voyant. I would just like to say, I like this tool, but I don’t think I’m very good at using it. That’s what I got, at least, from my attempts to do the assignment. I can’t argue with the fact that it’s really good for computer assisted […]
    • My day TODAY as a DH.. March 27, 2012
Today was a very fun today. So for one of LCC classes, my group and I had to do a group project with a choice of doing a power point presentation or doing something different like a debate or talk show about the specific topic for your group. Well through out the weeks and today, […]
    • Internship March 27, 2012
I currently take two classes and a part-time internship this semester in Georgia Tech. I am currently working in Cumulus Media as a Content Coordinator. Again here, I was reminded of how every person working either has a mac or a pc in front of them, and that majority portion of the work is done […]
    • Augmented Reality Class March 27, 2012
First day in participating in Day of Digital Humanities, I began my morning with a class studying Augmented Reality through a Georgia Tech developed app named Argon. I started the day off in the Digital side through minor coding with my group. Just then, I realized how everybody in my class had laptop, including our […]
    • Mapping projects: Mrs. Dalloway March 27, 2012
We ventured into a more extensive project with Mrs. Dalloway. Not only is the novel longer than the short stories, but we also began to experiment in Google earth instead of just Google maps. Here’s an excerpt from my final reflection on the project: “Finally, mapping the characters paths I think deepened our understanding of […]
